5 Reasons to Give Thanks to Your ClientsPosted by Jessica Oman
Since it’s the season for gratitude and all (with Canadian Thanksgiving coming up on October 11), we’d like to extend thanks to all the wonderful people who have helped Write Ahead grow over the past 15 months. We’re still a young company but because so many people have counted on us to deliver results with integrity, we’ve built experience writing business plans and providing copy writing and editing services for retail stores, catering companies, restaurants, bakeries, e-commerce sites, health care facilities, cleaning services, social media applications, service-based businesses, and more. Phew! It was a great first year.
Here are five reasons why you should take a few moments to thank all the people who have helped you grow your business:
1. It makes people feel good.
And if they feel good because of you, they’ll remember you. If they remember you, they’re more likely to refer you to others who might need your products or services, or return to you themselves for more projects. Pay it forward and see what happens.
2. It helps you stand out.
Even though you’re amazing at what you do, you have to find a way to stand out among your competitors. What better way than by extending some gratitude to your colleagues and clients? Even the difficult ones (we all have them) deserve your thanks, because you can learn from them new ways to refine your business processes, improve your communication or more effectively segment your market.
3. It builds relationships.
In a tight business community like Vancouver’s, it’s especially important to maintain great relationships with networking contacts and clients. Even if you can’t find a connection right away, there’s a good chance you’ll find one later on. By showing gratitude to these people, you let them know that you’re still thinking about them and considering how you might help each other in the future.
4. It makes you richer.
Yes, your heart will be warm, your awareness heightened, and all that great stuff – but giving thanks can also give you more wealth. Once your clients know you really appreciate them, they might give you more work. And you get more money. A simple formula that works.
5. It makes employees happier.
Thank your employees for all that they do for you. Make sure they have everything they need to do their jobs as well as they can. Remind them that they are valued and that you trust them. And, an occasional bottle of wine never hurts!
I’d like to say a huge thanks to all of my clients, all the networking contacts who have given me great advice, everyone who has worked for me and all those who have propped me up when others told me I could never make any money as a writer. Have a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend!
