All Great Businesses Start with IdeasPosted by Jessica Oman
It takes a lot of work to get from “Idea” to “Open”. But before you even begin that work, your idea has to make sense. And by that I mean, it must be clear, simple to articulate, and address a specific solution to a specific problem that a specific group of customers are facing.
If you can’t do that yet, then it’s not quite time for a business plan. The plan is only the guide for implementation of the idea; it doesn’t spell out the idea itself.
Make sense? If you’re still at the idea stage, that’s cool. You can’t start a great business without ideas. And if your ideas are all over the place, that’s cool too – you have to begin somewhere, and plenty of great ideas have come from a chaotic mess of brainstorming.
If you need help clarifying your ideas, then book a Business Brainstorm with us and we’ll help you narrow things down so you can begin thinking like a business owner.
I’ve seen many would-be entrepreneurs delay their commitment to their businesses because they haven’t fully formed their idea to create a business model that looks like it will work. Some people are even a bit embarrassed to share their ideas – or they think if they do, someone else will steal them.
To that I say, your business will be unique because of you. If someone steals your idea, they won’t be able to do it quite like you. You also get to relish in the fact that you had an idea worth stealing.
All great businesses start with ideas. What are yours?
