Do I Suck At Marketing? The 30-Day Blog Challenge, Day 17Posted by Jessica Oman
Building credibility and trust in the online world is essential to any company’s successful marketing campaign. Unfortunately most entrepreneurs get overwhelmed with all the possible ways they can build an audience online, and try lots of different tactics with minimal results. I’ve been guilty of this several times, and it’s frustrating because our content and our offering are not the problem.
I had coffee this morning with Michela Quilici of Q Consulting and we talked about these kinds of “spray tactics” and how creating a structured plan can yield much better results (and be a lot easier to measure). It was such a timely meeting – we’re right in the middle of creating a new product, a new service and planning a big event (announcement coming soon).
So when I opened up my email to today’s 30-day blog challenge question, I actually laughed out loud because the topic is so relevant to us right now:
What three steps can you take to build trust and credibility online for you, your brand and your business?
Part of building online credibility is about marketing yourself and your business as trustworthy. Despite the title of the post, I don’t think we actually suck at this; we’re just…a little slower than I’d like. So it’s time to accelerate this thing.
There’s nothing tactical that we can do – at least right now. It’s time to put our strategy hats on and show the online world why we’re the best business planning consultants out there. Our three steps are:
- Revise Write Ahead’s business plan (it’s been a few months)
- Define clear goals that detail our revenue targets and timelines for the projects we’re working on right now
- Create a structured marketing plan that maximizes our online reach
Okay, I better get to work! These steps are going to take a little while.
