How Live Events Are Changing Our Business – An #IdeaToOpen RecapPosted by Jessica Oman
Lately here at Write Ahead we’ve been talking a LOT about marketing. What to do, how, and when to do it. We were marketing everywhere, on all kinds of platforms, and it was getting a little overwhelming.
You see, so-called “spray tactics” are rarely effective, plus they take up a lot of time and energy. We tell our clients to focus on their ideal customer, to determine what type of marketing that person will best respond to, and to focus mostly on those avenues. Until recently, we weren’t always taking our own advice (thanks to Q Consulting for clearing that up for us). So we decided to focus on live events – both hosting our own, and speaking at others.
With that in mind, we hosted the second From Idea to Open: How to Plan + Launch Your Dream Company on November 27, 2013. We weren’t sure how people would react. Would anyone come? Would they care? Would we be able to get our message out to the right people?
The answer was a resounding YES.
You responded in droves. Over 100 people showed up and Twitter was buzzing with insight and quotes as people picked up valuable tips and resources from our speakers. The energy in the room was palpable. We sold lots of our new book. And it affirmed one very important thing: live events are our best form of marketing. Hands down.
