How to Build Your List with Great ContentPosted by Nicole
Business owners, on and offline, are getting hip to the virtues of building an email list. After all, a modest list of 1,000 newsletter subscribers provides a business with a very powerful marketing tool – a targeted audience to sell products and services to. Do the math: if open rates are in the 30% range, and only a quarter of those purchase your fabulous $50 product, you’ve just made $3750. Not bad for about 20 minutes of work.
For those new to email marketing, building an email list may seem like a daunting task – but it needn’t be. The best way to build your list is quite simple, and falls back on something you are probably doing already: building your list by providing great content to your readers on a regular – and ideally, predictable – basis via your blog, newsletter, and social media.
Build Your List with the K-L-T Rule
Point of fact: consumers buy from people they know, like, and trust. Successful entrepreneur Yuwanda Black of Inkwell Editorial has referred to this in many of her marketing materials, as have other marketing gurus. The best (and possibly only) way for the online masses to get the sense that they know, like, and trust you is by becoming familiar with who you are via frequent posting on your blog, your newsletter, and on social media.
Build Your List by Being a Friendly Expert
Your blog, your newsletter, and social media all provide excellent opportunities to connect with your audience of potential clients, and provide that sense of friendly familiarity. You will also build confidence and trust as you engage with your readers, providing helpful advice and useful information in your well-written posts, articles, status updates, and tweets.
By demonstrating in an approachable way that you know your stuff, people will decide that they like you. When people find great content on the web, they comment, share, and follow. Which is precisely why you must make it easy to give the people what they want – in the form of a link to your website or blog wherever your name appears on the web, and a simple subscribe box on each and every page of your website. Your list will build and you will be well on your way to selling your services and products with ease.
