Let your Customers Love the Real You: Humanize your CompanyPosted by sabrina
How many times have you seen a smiling call centre girl similar to this this one on a small business website? Did the photo increase your trust and willingness to do business with the company at all? Or did you frantically click through other pages in the attempt to determine whether the company was ‘legit’ or just another clever internet scam? Be honest.
As the adage goes, people do business with people they know, like, and trust. In the past, businesses kept themselves at an arm’s length. The only information you could look up about a company was their address and phone number in the phone book. Fast forward a few years and we arrive in an environment where consumers are increasingly attracted to humanized brands, and successful companies are proud to introduce their customers to the talented employees that are serving them. HubSpot’s behind-the-scenes Pinterest board is a great example this. Brand humanization is not just a fad, it stems from a basic desire to connect with others on a personal level.
These days, technology makes media production quick and easy to do, so why not take advantage? Whip out that cell phone camera and say hello to your customers. Encourage employees to show off their quirks on your ‘About Us’ page. Give your customers a behind-the-scenes look at your offices. Show your customers how your product is made in a short video. Introduce customers to the real you! And ditch those fake smiling employee stock photos! Good riddance. Here at Write Ahead, we’ve found that customers particularly love our mascot Edword, and share our love of delicious food.
