Life CoachingPosted by Antonia
Life coaches, career counsellors, career service officers, and career therapists make up a set of services that is getting more popular as people find that the lifetime corporate career is a thing of the past. Juggling jobs, continuing education and building your own business can be a discombobulating experience. It is far from structured and there are so many unknowns and variables that have the potential to throw you into unintended directions.
Thank goodness UBC has a life and career centre and YWCA has developed a set of programs. There are private companies that help with such things. Life coaching is apparently more popular with men because they can relate to the word “coach”, whereas women tend to see therapists. Be that as it may, this is an emerging tendency among people who feel the need to realign their goals and maintain a happy and balanced life. I like to call it ACAPP – “Adult Career and Personal Planning”.
