We Can’t Do This Alone (So It’s Time to Meet Our Idea to Open Sponsors)Posted by Jessica Oman
If you’re a new entrepreneur in Vancouver who hasn’t heard about From Idea to Open: How to Plan + Launch Your Dream Company (the awesome event we’re hosting on November 27) then you might be living under a rock.
That, or you’ve just discovered our blog – in which case, welcome!
Over the next few weeks, we’re giving you the chance to meet some of the amazing entrepreneurs we work with and love referring our clients to for financial planning, legal advice and more. All of these people are here to help you just as we are – and they also happen to be sponsoring From Idea to Open in November.
Why do you need to meet these entrepreneurs? Well, one of the big struggles we notice our clients having is the obsession with doing everything themselves. When you first start a business, you’re the CEO, the Salesperson, the Marketer, the Social Media Manager, the Bookkeeper, the Office Clerk, and the Tech. As an entrepreneur you’ll always wear a few different hats, but to enjoy faster growth in your business, we really believe that you need to get help from people who’ve been there before, and are really really good at the stuff you don’t like or aren’t good at.
How To Build Your Team
Outsourcing, hiring and using interns can give your business a big boost and also take a lot of weight off your shoulders. But it can also be scary, because it costs money to do that – money that could definitely be spent elsewhere if you’re a bootstrapping entrepreneur like most of us.
Natalie Sisson has a great podcast about how to build a team – and what to outsource first – that you can check out here. We’re starting to implement some of her suggestions already and I know it will make a big difference to both our revenue (up!) and our stress levels (down!) in the next few months.
How to Tap into Your Community Resources
Tapping into your local business community is an amazing way to start building your team. Our marketing includes a lot of events, speaking engagements and workshops. What better way to reach out to new entrepreneurs, potential referrals and future team members than to give them all the opportunity to gather in one place, in a welcoming space, where they can start to gather the essential resources they need to launch + grow? That’s why we started the Idea to Open series. And it’s why we’re profiling lots of local and virtual entrepreneurs whose expertise makes it easier and simpler to start a business, and reaching out to them to come to our event and support you.
Events are a great way to market your business and nurture relationships in the community, but hosting your own can be a lot of work. That’s why we’ve enlisted the support of several other incredible entrepreneurial organizations who are making themselves available to ensure you have all the resources you need to start a business that matters. All of them will be at our exciting event on November 27, which you can sign up for here. Our first sponsor profile will be up in just a few days.
We can’t wait to see you in November, and neither can our sponsors!
